Ontario wants to become a fully accessible province by 2025. The AODA-Act includes guidelines for public space design, employment, information and communication, transportation and customer service. The "Regulation on Integrated Accessibility Standards" (IASR) defines 200 concrete requirements.

PPAS AU is a paper-based assessment form to review the level of ease by which persons with disabilities, the elderly, and children can move through public spaces such as a pavements, crossings, and buildings. PPAS AU has been used in six neighbourhoods in and around Montréal since the start of the initiative in 2015.

In 2008, Mexico’s Fundación Inclúyeme began operating a programme that enables adults with intellectual disabilities to live independently by providing inclusive and serviced housing, support in finding employment, and recreational activities.
