                A transition into adulthood programme for young people with disabilities

                Creating a Future prepares students between the ages of 16 and 21 for adulthood through employment skills and future orientation training. It also supports preparation for employment through an assessment of an individual’s interests and strengths as well as by providing work experience.

                Beit Issie Shapiro (BIS) develops and provides innovative therapies and services for children with disabilities and their families. In 2006 BIS developed Friendship Park, Israels first accessible and inclusive playground. By 2017 the model has been replicated in 30 municipalities throughout the country.

                Museum accessibility for visitors with intellectual disability

                The project aims to increase knowledge of those working in museums about accessibilities for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Training and support are provided in order to adapt or create accessible installations. Since the initial phase ended, AKIM has continued to train staff in other leisure organizations.

                Training civil servants in the Israeli legal system to provide more inclusive legal services

                The Accessible Legal Services for People with Disabilities program was launched by the Israeli Ministry of Justice and JDC-Israel Unlimited, together with operating partner Israel Elwyn to train lawyers and representatives from the legal system on how to improve their services for people with intellectual or mental disabilities.

                Installed on a smart phone, Step-Ear enables users to find their way in public surroundings using Audio-signs and pre-placed Beacons. Users can call for help in an emergency and they can communicate with public transport personnel. As of 2018, Step-Hear has placed more than 3,500 Audio signs throughout Israel.

                Transfering persons with intellectual disabilities out of sheltered workshops

                Israel Elwyn has launched two programmes in 2015 to move people with intellectual disabilities into the mainstream labour market. ‘Future Direction’ is aimed at individuals who have been working in sheltered workshops for many years, while ‘Creating a Future’ is aimed at high school students.
