Accessible services at public digital terminals

On a website personal needs for TVM‘s or ATM’s are asked. These needs are recorded on a contactless smartcard which is sent to the user. Users only have to hold the card close to a TVM or ATM and the screen is shown in the personalized attitudes.

Accessibility barriers mean that persons with disabilities and elderly persons and people who are not familiar with ICT are commonly excluded from accessing the services provided by Public Digital Terminals. APSIS4all not only focuses on overcoming such barriers, but also on improving the experience for all users and launched a common activation method: placing a contactless close to the TVM or ATM.

With APSIS4all users just have to register on a website indicating their needs and preferences (text size, colours, language, screens reader, etc.). This information is stored in a special card, which is sent to the user. When the card is held to a machine, the information displayed on the screen adapts to the user’s needs. In Germany favorite trips and stops can be stored on a mobile web app to generate transport tickets.

APSIS4ALL can be used by citizens in Madrid, Barcelona or Paderborn. Positive impacts for users and service providers:

  • Independent and equal access to the services delivered through these machines for all users.
  • Easy to operate.
  • Personalization without facing an extra-cost.
  • Reaching new customers and increase the loyalty of the existing ones.
  • Less additional support necessary for clients; enhancing their independence but also implying time savings and increased productivity.
  • Leading position in the market (better social image and a competitive advantage over other companies).
