News coverage of the 4th Zero Project Conference

The 4th Zero Project Conference 2015 was a big success, not only for its actual 500 attendees, but also because of its coverage in the World Wide Web:

  • Several reports on our award winners have been published on the internet:
    • For example, the fact that the Canadian Non-Profit Organisation Vela Microboards presented at the conference
    • Disability Rights UK reported about their award
    • As well as the Access to Elected Office for Disabled People Fund
    • And so did Digital Outreach
    • Our Innovative Practice from Jamaica, Digicel Foundation, was proud to write about their international recognition. They even received some further attention here
    • Eurochild reported on the award given to the European Expert Group for Guidelines on Transition from Institutional to Community-based Care
    • Also Rhein Main Inklusiv, the organisation behind one of the Innovative Practices from Germany, dedicated some time to write about their award
    • The Institut für Sozialdienste (ifs) Vorarlberg decided to give some attention to it as well
    • The organisation “Brot für die Welt” received two awards for their Innovative Practices and published an article on this.
    • Onafhankelijk Leven vzw, reported about the Flemish Personal Assistance Budget (PAB) which was awarded. Several newspapers and other media channels in Belgium reported about this as well. Among others: De Standaard, De Redactie, Het Belang van Limburg, Weliswaar, TV Limburg and De Morgen
    • Also the Flemish practice entitled “proefwonen” received some attention on a Belgian news website. You can find it here (in Dutch)
    • In Japan the Zero Project was mentioned (featuring a picture of the representatives of the policy receiving their award) in light of the Innovative Policy from Japan which was rewarded. This specific policy was further highlighted on the website of Inclusion International
    • The Croatian organisation ‘Association for Promoting Inclusion’ celebrated their award
    • FM4 published a podcast in which they covered the Innovative Practice “Inklusive Wohngemeinschaft Ludwigshafen” from Germany. You can find it here.
  • The Council of Europe used the fact that their EUR-OPA Agreement was being discussed at the Conference to produce a headline on their website.
  • The European Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), which moderated one of our sessions, mentioned to the Zero Project Conference in its newsletter and on its website.
  • The consultation session on disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction was highlighted on the disabilities section of the website of the United Nations.
  • The European Network for Corporate Social Responsibility and Disability (CSR+D) was speaker at our session on Corporate strategies supporting employment and inclusion, reported upon this
  • Verbavoice (Zero Project Conference Award winner of 2014) provided the captioning and reported about the conference in their news section.
  • Josef Neumann, German politician (SPD) reported about his participation at the Zero Project Conference on his homepage
  • The Croatian Ombudsman for Persons with Disabilities devoted a page on the Zero Project Conference (in Croatian)
  • Several Austrian websites covered the Zero Project Conference 2015. For example, Bizeps Info dedicated a page in their news section to the conference, as well as behindertenarbeit. Also the website of der Standard published an article on the conference as well as on our evening event.
  • The German portal Kobinet-Nachrichten mentioned the Zero Project and a news website for persons with hearing impairments reported on some of the sessions which took place.
  • In Italy, the Zero Project Conference was covered on superando.it
  • Furthermore, the Global Alliance on Accessible Technologies and Environments (GAATES) reported on the Award of Recognition which has been given to the Zero Project Team 2015
  • A newsletter on the session about Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) written by Ms Marnie Peters (GAATES Executive Director and one of the speakers at the conference) was distributed and published: Find it here.
  •  A TV report about the Zero Project Conference featuring Dr. Corina Zolle (one of the speakers at the conference) has been broadcasted, a replay can be found here (in German)
  • The Austrian Broadcasting company ORF televised a story about the Austrian version of the German Discovering Hands project, which has been presented during the conference. The link can be found here (in German)
  • The conference even got mentioned on Iranian television
