#ZeroCall25 Topic: Employment

Innovative solutions for inclusive employment

The Zero Project's research topics are based on the UN CRPD's definition of rights of persons with disabiltities and seek innovative solutions to advance their implementation. Article 27 of the CRPD addresses Work and Employment and informs this year's #ZeroCall25 selection process.

Previous research cycles showed great potential for innovation in the following areas that are covered by Article 27. However, these are intended only as examples of possible nominations. Innovative solutions that remove barriers in other areas of Employment may be considered as well.

  • Supported Employment

Personal or technical support enabling persons with disability to participate in the labour market

  • Vocational Training

TVET – Technical and vocational educational training providing skills for employment

  • Transition models from sheltered workshops

Methods and programmes to move beyond sheltered employment

  • Entrepreneurship and micro-finance

Creation of small businesses and the provision of financial means to run them

  • Transition

Period between the end of secondary education and the start of employment

  • Matchmaking

Bringing employers and employees together and the aligning of capabilities and requirements

  • Higher education to prepare for the labour market

University and/or college education to enter the labour market

  • Inclusive Arts

Innovative solutions for inclusive employment in the Arts & Culture sector

Innovations very often connect education and vocational training with employment. As a consequence, there is no clear distinction between education (Article 24 of the CRPD) and employment. Innovative solutions relating to Inclusive Arts also address Article 21 (Freedom of expression) and, in particular, Article 30 (Participation in cultural life, recreation, leiser, and sport).

In addition to the CRPD, the #ZeroCall25 research design also draws on publications and reports, including those from the ILO and the Thematic Report of the OHCHR.
