In the fifth episode of Season 3 of Pathways to Zero Barriers, Renita Nabisubi explores the assistive technology landscape across Africa, highlighting how local innovation, collaboration, and inclusive systems can expand opportunities for young persons with disabilities.

The tool draws on the 826 GDS Commitments — pledges submitted by organizations worldwide at the Global Disability Summit (GDS) 2025 in Berlin to advance disability rights through concrete actions, initiatives, and policies. It was developed by the Zero Project in collaboration with the International Disability Alliance, with financial support from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The newly launched Equitable AI Assistant is now available on the Zero Project website, helping users discover research, whitepapers, podcasts, and insights on Equitable AI.

An international Zero Project Delegation attended two events in Mumbai this September: the Zero Project Technology Forum 2026 and the Zero Project Conference India 2026, hosted by Tech Mahindra Foundation and Youth4Jobs respectively.

159 innovative solutions from 59 countries across six continents have been shortlisted for the Zero Project Awards 2027. In addition, 10 inclusive arts initiatives from 9 countries have been shortlisted for this year's Zero Project Arts Awards. The call for nominations focused on the topics of Independent Living, Political Participation, and Assistive Technology (AT).
