Connecting AT Innovations and Support Partners
The inaugural Zero Project Technology Forum Mumbai, hosted by the Tech Mahindra Foundation on September 7, brought together 10 Assistive Technology innovations and 50 Support Partners to foster connections and collaboration. From mobility and communication to visual accessibility, neurodevelopment and independent living, innovators showcased solutions responding to diverse needs of individuals across various disabilities.
Building bridges between global networks and innovations
On September 8, the 4th edition of the Zero Project Conference India was hosted by Youth4Jobs for the first time in Mumbai, expanding its reach within the regional disability-inclusion ecosystem. The conference covered a broad range of topics, including Assistive Technology in the Global South, grassroots innovation, the leadership of women with disabilities, storytelling, AI and employment, and education.
Both events were attended by the Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
International delegation and site visits
Alongside the two events, the Zero Project International Delegation had the opportunity to explore local initiatives and connect with organizations working towards greater inclusion.
Delegates visited IIT Bombay, gaining insights into rehabilitation and Assistive Technology innovation, as well as the Veruschka Foundation, a social enterprise that empowers people with developmental disabilities through food-based livelihood and employment opportunities.
The week concluded with an inclusive tour of Mumbai, organized by Planet Abled, offering delegates the opportunity to experience the city through an accessibility and inclusion lens.
Together, these activities provided opportunities to strengthen international connections, exchange perspectives, and explore new avenues for collaboration between the global Zero Project Network and India's disability innovation ecosystem.
