Birgit ROTHENBERG

Dr. Birgit Rothenberg (1955) is an activist of the German independent living movement and member of “disability studies in Deutschland”. Working at Technical University of Dortmund she is responsible for the office disabilty and study. She is engaged for a long time as a volunteer in the managing comitee of a local independent living organisation, MOBILE-Selbstbestimmtes Leben Behinderter e.V. This association MOBILE organizes Personal Assistance, offers an indepently working Counselling Service and supports persons with intellectual disabilities (some oft hem with children) to live in a flat of their own. For some years now MOBILE also works as a regional independent living center comissioned by the government of Nordrhein-Westfalia.
