Linda Perry, E.D. Vela Canada, B.Ed/Soc. focusing her career in community development with people that have disabilities, developed Vela’s first Microboards in 1990. Vela is recognized for innovative supports using self-directed services and personalized budgets. Microboards are small connected groups of family and friends joining with a person to create a simple NGO customizing support for that person. All members of the Microboard are chosen by the individual and assist the person to create a self-directed life. Year of this biography: 2019
