The Zero Project has announced the Awardees for the 2022 Zero Project awards in the field of accessibility. 76 Innovative Practices and Policies from 35 countries will be recognized for their proven and impactful commitment to remove barriers for all.

Innovation, Impact, Scalability

Out of 381 nominations , 160 nominations (from 54 countries) made it to the Shortlist (see the 2022 shortlist by clicking here), based on an extensive peer-review process that were influenced by the three main criteria of evaluation; (1) innovation; (2) impact; and (3) scalability. In the voting process, more than 2,000 votes decided the selection of 76 Innovative Practices and Policies of 2022.

The Innovative Practices and Policies come from all sectors of society – civil society, public sector, and private sector – with a high percentage of them using ICT-based approaches to create or improve accessibility for all.

  • From public transport systems to online training;
  • from urban planning to health systems in rural areas;
  • from workplace adaptation to playgrounds and games;
  • from web-browsers to video-based sign language;
  • from corporate strategies to national action plans;
  • from online libraries to orientation system;
  • the Innovative Practices and Innovative Policies cover a wide range of solutions for a more accessible and inclusive environment for all.

The 2022 Awardees and their work is marked by inclusion, accessibility for all, and a commitment to universal design.
