From September 17–19, Singapore became a global hub for disability innovation and inclusion as the Zero Project International Delegation brought more than 45 delegates from over 20 countries to three landmark events. Together with SG Enable, UnExcluded and the ILO Global Business and Disability Network, the week connected global expertise with regional action, showcasing how accessibility innovation can shape more inclusive futures.

A week of collaboration and learning

On September 17, the  ILO Global Business and Disability Network’s 2nd Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific gathered multinational enterprises, business networks, and policymakers to strategize on inclusive employment across the region. Michael Fembek and Anja Günther presented the Equitable AI Alliance on the panel “Ecosystem: joint efforts for the employment of persons with disabilities.”

On September 18 - 19, SG Enable hosted the second Zero Project Asia Pacific Symposium under the theme “Powering Accessibility Innovation.” More than 150 global thought leaders, social entrepreneurs, government representatives, DPOs, NGOs and businesses exchanged good practices on digital accessibility, cross-border collaboration, accessible tourism and inclusive spaces. Guest-of-Honour Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Social and Family Development, delivered the opening remarks alongside Michael Fembek.

The week concluded on September 19 with the inaugural Inclusive Tech Forum Southeast Asia 2025 at Microsoft Singapore, hosted by UnExcluded. Close to 100 participants and 15 pioneering innovators – from AI sign language translation and robotic guide dogs to inclusive VR learning – demonstrated how assistive and inclusive technologies can empower persons with disabilities and attract investment to the region.
Delegates experienced Singapore’s accessibility first-hand through exclusive tours of the Enabling Village on its 10th anniversary – including its new extension and the refurbished Tech Able with a new Accessibility Lab – and through Ludus Lab Singapore’s immersive accessible city tour.

A Catalyst for Future Action

The Zero Project Asia Pacific Symposium 2025 successfully laid the foundation for future collaboration across the region. The momentum generated through the exchange of ideas and insights from around the world will continue to drive the development of more inclusive practices, policies, and technologies.

“Accessibility is the key that unlocks equal opportunities, learning and meaningful work for persons with disabilities. As Singapore’s focal agency for disability and inclusion, we are pleased to partner with Zero Project again to spotlight bold ideas and breakthrough solutions. Together with innovators and changemakers across the region, we can turn ideas into action, and take practical steps towards building a more inclusive society for all.”
