Down Syndrome International and Inclusion International are working together to create guidelines for organisations on how to include and ensure meaningful participation of people with intellectual disabilities in their activities and decision making. Over the last 2 years our global networks have shared the barriers that people with intellectual disabilities face in being included in employment, projects, decision making, governance, and accessing information. We have also heard from self-advocates about the solutions to overcome these barriers and the good practices that they have experienced. We have drafted and consulted on the guidelines and have tested their practicality. The guidelines will be published in 2022. In this session 3 self-advocates with intellectual disabilities from our networks will share their experiences of inclusive participation and of working on the guidelines and will run a short example training session for participants.

G3ict and Steelcase partnered on a project to understand how workplaces around the world should evolve to be inclusive, safe, and compelling for all stakeholders. The project convened leaders and experts from different sectors and geographies. It focused on persons with disabilities which include those with diverse, intersectional identities as a lens for understanding the many challenges and opportunities associated with the changing nature of workplace culture, design, technology, and policies and management. The output of the project was the Blueprint for Inclusive Workplaces of the Future. Panelists, members of the Inclusive Workplaces Taskforce, will discuss how the Blueprint creates a jumping off point for stakeholder engagement, and recommends actions that will result in inclusive, safe, and compelling workplaces for all.
In December of 2021, a team of Deaf leaders participated in events at the USA Pavilion at Dubai Expo to celebrate the UN International Day for Persons with Disabilities. This team captured their experiences in video and photos to share with the global Deaf community. This panel will share these experiences through Deaf eyes, highlighting accessibility at a World Expo.

Within the last couple of years, we have collectively faced trauma and the severe impact of COVID19 on our lives. The philanthropic sector was challenged on multiple fronts: from changing grant-making practices, to augment flexibility, to reply to unprecedent needs arising, and sustaining the collective effort to fight the pandemic. Philanthropic organisations active in the disability fields have supported persons with disabilities in many ways, ensuring they could access opportunities and support. During this session you will hear about a few projects carried out by foundations in different countries, that aim at supporting and creating opportunities for people with disabilities.
This session will give an overview of the next steps of the Cities For All campaign (including new partnership with the City of Amsterdam, publication on Accessible Transportation, roadmap toward WUF 11) and most importantly showcase the Cities For All Training Program. World Enabled, UCLG, and UN-HABITAT collaborated with other partners (Doha Debates, Institute of Othering and Belonging) in building the first edition of the “Building Cities for All” Training Programme. The program intends to promote capacity building for local practitioners and city leaders by fostering peer-to-peer learning through learning tools, including theoretical and practical materials, storytelling, and showcasing of case studies.
EnAble India EI labs’ Project Discovery which is the disability community driven project, deals with all kinds of assistive solutions for the challenges faced by PWDs in their day – day life. By catalysing grass root solutions EI labs puts forth problems of PWDs in the centre and creates solution-centric mindset among the disability community. Through the tag line of ‘Share the solutions, create impact’ This Project attempts to be the horizon which meets technology revolution with human evolution.

The Arts have the power to transform society. This session will present new approaches in inclusive Arts experiences and museum education. Participating in and learning through Arts fosters creativity, wellbeing and empowerment for people with disabilities as well as community and mutual learning. Our latest project, a Guide on accessibility to Arts & museums, will also be discussed.

Inclusive workplace culture requires cross-functional collaboration and strategy to impact the employees, clients, partners, and society at large. This diverse panel will share how to implement human first accessible digital organization processes, how to represent the brand externally to stakeholders and internally via practices and policies, and how analytics and technology need to be used to reimagine future workforce experience.
Leaders from established regional job boards, MyAbility.jobs, Egalite and Incluyeme.com, address the necessity for labour markets to build the disability confidence of employers and enable job seekers with disabilities to gain skills employers need. In this context, well-engineered job boards should attract suitable candidates to live vacancies….candidates who then get jobs and careers. In essence - job boards are not enough!
