Access to Justice is an important step for persons with disabilities to have an equal basis with non disabled peers. Nominations shall include support provisions, appropriate accomodation as well as training of personnel involved.

Article 13 of the UN CRPD states that "States Parties shall ensure effective access to justice for persons with disabilities on an equal basis with others, including through the provision of procedural and age-appropriate accommodations". This includes a wide range of services like accessible communication to facilitate the understanding of court orders and rulings.

Moreover, it includes appropriate support during actual appearances at court like easy language features and devices for communication support.

Nominations shall not contain:

  • measures that give access to justice only to a certain group of persons
  • inadequate support measures
