All tools and initiatives under the Zero Project Responsible AI umbrella are built on representative datasets drawn from more than a decade of research in disability innovation, complemented by publications from trusted partners.

About the data

Since 2013, the Zero Project has compiled an extensive body of research on disability innovation worldwide, across all sectors of society. 
This includes:

  • More than 1,500 innovative solutions
  • Thousands of presentations and contributions from innovators, DPOs, practitioners, policymakers, self-advocates, and other experts within the growing Zero Project Network.

At the heart of all Zero Project Responsible AI initiatives is a commitment to:

  • Using representative data
  • Aligning with the Zero Project’s core mission of advancing the implementation of the CRPD
  • Amplifying opportunities while mitigating risks arising from rapid technological change

All activities are developed in close collaboration with experts from the Zero Project Network to ensure the responsible use of AI.

A pilot project, supported by Microsoft

The focus areas mentioned above all build on the Zero Project AI Assistant pilot project, which was developed with the support of Microsoft.

“Redefining accessibility and inclusion with AI"

Across the EU, disabled people are advocating for more inclusive policy, such as the Zero Project initiative emerging from Austria and supported by Microsoft. It uses AI to make the world’s accessibility best practices and innovations readily available to policymakers, tech innovators, and the disability community. It contains vast amounts of research on accessibility innovation and disability policies in an easily accessible and findable format, helping to promote successes and learnings across different regions.
