Rating the accessibility of buildings using a well-known seal system
BPASS carries out accessibility assessments of objects and public spaces based on a 300-question checklist for 11 different beneficiary groups. The AccesibilidApp was developed by COCEMFE and Vodafone and enables citizens to report accessibility and mobility barriers in their built environment. COCEMFE will then contact those responsible to remove these barriers. Since 2014 a total of 2,331 cases have been reported by 1,355 users.

Standards for physical accessibility
Between 2009 and 2015 seven laws and decrees have been passed in support of persons with disabilities. Law 4.934/13, for example, mandates that all public and private spaces must be accessible to people with disabilities. The private sector is incentivised by fiscal benefits rather than obligations.
