                Residents in one of the "Preparation for Independent Living Centres" are provided with personalised professional support, counselling, and training to prepare them for living independently. From 2012 to 2018, 50 people had received support services and 16 had successfully moved on to their own independent lives and accommodations.

                Government-produced model toolkit for accessible websites and online content

                The Online Accessibility Toolkit, published by the regional gonverment of Southern Australia, is a free and publicly available set of tools for making websites and online solutions more accessible and inclusive. The toolkit contains eight topics and was designed in consultation with people with disabilities.

                Promoting the use of the Scripor alphabet, tactile representations of colour

                The Scripor alphabet, invented in 2018 by the Asociatia Alfabetul Scripor from Romania, is the first universal colour standardization in Braille. Ten colours can be distinguished in light and dark with only two combinations of dots. International promotion of the alphabet is done through manuals and workshops.

              • Hospital internships as a strong bridge to the open labour market

                Project SEARCH offers young people with intellectual disabilities an internship programme at Naas General Hospital. Over a nine-month period, the interns take part in different real job experiences and then seek employment. Following the first year, all interns who completed the programme found employment in the open labour market.

                Wheelchair-accessible tours in Amazonia, the Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu

                SAFA offers tours to various South America destinations that are accessible by wheelchair users (including hotels, restaurants, availability of accessible transport, etc.). SAFA therefore developed a systematic approach to evaluating potential locations. In 2016 approximately 300 wheelchair users booked tours.
