CareER Association
Established in 2014, CareER is the first charity in Hong Kong to provide holistic career support to tertiary-educated students and graduates with disabilities and special educational needs (SEN), ensuring a smooth transition from campus to the workplace. Standing for Care in Education and Recruitment, CareER provides charitable job-matching services for employers and candidates with disability/SEN, while acting as a peer-support community and alumni union to serve tertiary-educated talents with any type of disabilities. Through promoting inclusive employment and encouraging disability inclusion at the workplace, CareER aims to maximize the capabilities of tertiary-educated students and graduates with disabilities/SEN, and enable them to become independent and contributing members of society. CareER was awarded the HKCSS Most Impactful Small and Medium-sized non-subvented NGOs Award in 2019, and the Zero Project – Innovative Practices in Employment from Civil Society in 2021.

Sign language research and training programmes started in 1993 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Since then, the sign linguistics research programme has taken root at the university, and, after a decade of research effort, the university is now being recognised as the first academic institution specialising in sign linguistics research and Deaf training in the Asia-Pacific region.
