PROBLEMS TARGETED
Children with physical disabilities can develop postural disorders if they are not correctly supported and regularly reviewed. Posture problems, spinal deviation and ulcers can be the consequence.
PROJECT To prevent postural disorders Shonaquip have manufactured a range of ready-to-assemble products that can be put together on site. Additionally they run seating clinics and community outreach services providing assessment, modifications, fitting, repairs and maintenance. They train/mentor parents, caregivers and professionals and run apprenticeship andskills development programs providing job training opportunities for people with disabilities. CURRENT SITUATION & OUTLOOK Shonaquip aims to increase awareness of and access to relevant, appropriate and innovative mobility and positioning solutions through influencing the political system, policy change and research, building collaborative relationships with Government and other stakeholders. As a practical fulfillment of these goals they design, manufacture and provide a range of high-quality adjustable and modular children’s posture support wheelchairs, 24 hour posture support systems and training tools. Raising the awareness of posture problems and influencing disability policies in a positive way are the long term goals of Shonaquip.
