Founded by Austrian non-profit Essl Foundation in 2008, the Zero Project is a global and research-driven initiative to support the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

Over the past decade, the Zero Project has established a global network of 10,000+ experts, policy makers, corporates, academics, and other persons with and without disabilities. The shared mission is to advance the implementation of the UN CRPD. The network contributes to the Zero Project’s work and continues to grow, fostering a global community for disability inclusion.

Foundational work: finding and sharing innovative solutions

Each year, the Zero Project conducts research into innovations worldwide. Following a call for nominations (#ZeroCall) and an extensive selection process, exemplary solutions receive a Zero Project Award for their innovativeness, scalability, and impact. The vetted and peer-reviewed solutions identified through this research process are promoted across a variety of publications, events, initiatives, and marketing communication.

Impact

A detailed analysis in the Zero Project Almanac

Increasing impact through dedicated partnerships

“Competition is a good thing, but collaborating with a competitive edge is better, and for me the Zero Project has created a global family which has a very big vision to truly transform the lives of persons with disabilities in the world, and is welcoming of anybody and everybody who shares those values to help that change happen.”

Caroline Casey, Founder of the Valuable 500

Building on its foundational work, the Zero Project’s scope of impact is augmented through collaboration with civil society, public and private sector organizations around the world.

Organizations that seek to formally partner with the Zero Project do so via the Zero Project Scaling Solutions Programme: by joining as a partner, they actively support the replication of innovative solutions in their respective fields of expertise or country.
