PROBLEMS TARGETED

Tourism providers and governments often don’t know about the barriers in their offers. They don’t know how to find barriers and how they can be reduced. SAMAST is a solution for this, because it finds barriers and supports to abolish them.

PROJECT

SAMAST allows tourism entities to evaluate their accessibility conditions, detect barriers and find ways to reduce them. The evaluation is done online on www.socialtourismplatform.com. There a questionnaire is published which evaluates the grade of accessibility. The programme was developed by researchers in charge of the project who have previous experience in accessibility evaluations and projects related to tourism.

CURRENT SITUATION & OUTLOOK

SAMAST is already online on www.socialtourismplatform.com. Tourism entities can test their accessibility through their characteristics, and learn how to gain accessibility. Entities only need to register on the system and give some general data as type of resource, number of employees and region. Then the questionnaire can be started and after finishing it, the website automatically calculates the grade of accessibility in percentage. The established universal criteria are suitable for other countries, not only Spain. The platform is ready to be translated to other languages but at the moment is only available in Spanish.
